There is much more to a glass of wine than meets the eye.

The wine whose aroma fills the air before us is the culmination of a long history. It embodies the climate of a landscape, the sunshine and the rain, the soil and the unique terroir of the vineyard, the character of the grape variety – and, above all, the work, knowledge and legacy of the people who have shaped the vines and the wine over generations.

During our programme, which lasts nearly 3 hours, we do more than just taste wines. Through the scents and flavours in our glasses, we’ll journey from the vineyards to the cellars, whilst old photographs, family stories and the worlds of unique wineries come to life before our eyes. As we delve ever deeper into the world of wine, faces and life stories suddenly emerge from behind the scents and aromas – the stories of people who, through their knowledge, perseverance and passion, have shaped the wine that fills our glasses today, generation after generation.

We will learn how climate and terroir shape wine, how the distinctive characteristics of the terroir can be identified in it, and how a single grape variety, a landscape and human labour combine to create a unique wine.

Because every wine has a story.
