Ritual of initiation
The basics of wine tasting

About the program
Have you ever felt that music is a world of its own?
A unique, mysterious language that we do not always understand in words, yet which has a profound effect on us. The world of wine is much the same: a convergence of scents, aromas, flavours and sensations that transports us to a completely different universe.
During this three-hour programme, we’ll set off together to explore the world of wine. I’ll be your guide into this unfamiliar world: I’ll show you what to look out for, how to identify the aromas and flavours, and how the overall picture of what’s in your glass eventually comes together.
We begin with what we see. We observe the wine’s colour, clarity and appearance, before moving on to the world of scents and aromas. Finally, we come to the taste, where everything our eyes, nose and palate have perceived comes together.
Along the way, we learn to recognise and articulate the impressions that a wine evokes in us. Not in order to find the ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answer, but so that we can explore what we are drinking with ever-greater awareness.
Because wine tasting isn’t an exam, and it’s not about who knows the most about wine. There isn’t just one right answer. The same sip can mean something different to everyone – a scent might evoke a memory, whilst a flavour might remind you of another wine or even a past experience.
The aim is that, by the end of the three hours, you won’t just be tasting wines, but looking at a glass in a different light. So that the next time you raise a glass, you’ll already know what to look out for, what to seek in it, and how to discover all those nuances you might not even notice at first glance.
Immerse yourself in the experience, share your impressions with your fellow Kortyoló-goers, chat about it, discuss what each of you has discovered – and let this special world reveal more and more of itself to you.
Because a glass of wine is not just a drink. It’s a story that you can discover sip by sip.
